INSIDE THE MIND OF THANOS, MARVEL’S MAD TITAN

From Comic Book Resources:

Thanos. The Mad Titan. Since his debut in 1973’s "Iron Man" #55, he’s played a major role throughout the Marvel Universe as one of the most powerful and cunning menaces the heroes of Earth have ever faced. Conqueror, death dealer and even unlikely universal savior, Thanos is an undeniably complex character with ever-changing motivations and inscrutable schemes. Now, after his surprise appearance in Marvel Studios’ blockbuster "The Avengers," audiences are eager to learn what lies behind that fearsome purple visage, so we’ve decided to take a trip inside that warped mind and give you some insight into the motivations, goals and schemes of Marvel’s top cosmic antagonist throughout the years.

SUPERMAN FAMILY ADVENTURES: Character Descriptions

From DC Comics:

Next Wednesday marks the launch of DC Entertainment’s new ongoing monthly all-ages series, SUPERMAN FAMILY ADVENTURES. From the acclaimed Eisner Award-winning creative team of Art Baltazar and Franco (TINY TITANS; GREEN LANTERN: THE ANIMATED SERIES), the series will star (you guessed it!) the whole Superman gang – Superman, Supergirl, Superboy, Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen, Lex Luthor, Bizarro, General Zod and … Fuzzy the Krypto Mouse!

JIM LEE, GEOFF JOHNS DISCUSS DC’S GAY ICON, TELEVISION ADAPTATIONS

From Comic Book Resources:

Saying readers will come to know who the mystery gay character is in the next "couple of weeks," Lee joked, "I think by the power of social media you’ll know before you even get the story who that character is!"

While the announcement came in the same week as Marvel’s announcement of next month’s "Astonishing X-Men" wedding between Northstar and his boyfriend Kyle Jinadu, and in the weeks after President Obama officially came out in support of gay marriage, Lee said neither event had an impact on the timing of DC’s announcement.

WHO IS DC’S NEW GAY CHARACTER?

From Comic Book Resources:

DC Comics is playing things close to the vest when it comes to the upcoming reveal of its yet-to-be-introduced gay character. The only details fans have managed to glean comes from DC Entertainment senior vice president of publicity Courtney Simmons, who revealed the character is "major," "iconic" and male, following the weekend revelation by DC Co-Publisher Dan DiDio that a character who was heterosexual prior the New 52 relaunch will become "one of our most prominent gay characters." While "Batman" writer Scott Snyder — who clarified on Twitter that it’s not Bruce Wayne — emphasized the quote "a character not seen since the relaunch will come out as gay," many of the statements made by DC so far seem purposefully ambiguous, begging the question, what do words like "major," "iconic" and "not seen since the relaunch" actually mean? With speculation running rampant, here are some of CBR’s thoughts on which character may out himself in June.

WHAT’S SO SPECIAL ABOUT MARVEL’S GAY (MUTANT) WEDDING?

From Comic Book Resources:

"Astonishing X-Men" is the recipient of a lot of hype this week. Like, being featured on "The View"-style hype, which is a level of promotion I don’t think any comic book has previously attained, nor expected to. The last time this particular comic had any hype attached to it at all was eight years ago, when Joss Whedon launched the book (I hear he’s doing just fine, by the way). But this comic is on "The View"! Those chatty ladies never said a peep about Kitty Pryde or Ord of Breakworld back when Whedon was writing the book. Why now? What’s so special about "Astonishing X-Men," post-Whedon?

THE TEN CRUELEST THINGS JOSS WHEDON HAS DONE TO HIS CHARACTERS

From Comic Book Resources:

Considering last month was a huge time of appreciation for writer/director Joss Whedon with not one, but two hugely successful movies bearing his name being released — blockbuster juggernaut "The Avengers" and his wickedly clever take on horror in "Cabin in the Woods" — it’s a good time to look back and celebrate Whedon’s mastery of the tragic and some of the most subversive things he ever snuck into his writing.

Walking Dead Set Video Teases ‘Darker, Harder, Faster’ Season 3

From Spinoff Online:

AMC has released the first set video for Season 3 of The Walking Dead, which offers a few glimpses inside the Prison, the central setting for the next 16 episodes, and the promise of new characters, “some that have been announced, some that have not.”

FIRST LOOK AT DANAI GURIRA AS "THE WALKING DEAD’S" MICHONNE

From Comic Book Resources:

Although season two of AMC’s "The Walking Dead" ended only a short while ago, excitement is already beginning to ramp up for season three — especially considering the tease of the unmistakably recognizable cloaked figure armed with a katana and flanked by two chained, armless zombies. Shortly after the season finale aired, AMC announced Danai Gurira had been cast as Michonne, the deadly katana wielding woman who joins Rick’s group of survivors in the comics. Now, Entertainment Weekly has revealed a first look at Gurira suited up as Michonne, complete with her iconic weapon.
